Small Axe Band International Nominated For Top Caribbean Soca Award

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MAY 10TH 2012 (Small Axe Band International) – The International Soca Music Awards organization has announced that Small Axe Band International has been nominated for the Over All Soca Band of the Year Award 2012.
“We are forever grateful and humbled when our work is recognized by anyone and we thank the people at the Soca Awards Inc. We also want to congratulate the other nominees, such as Machel Montano HD, Kes the Band, Krosfyah, Show Time, and Respeck Band, said band leader Mr. World.
He went on to say that, while we wish everyone well, we are in this to win it and is encouraging fans and well-wishers to go to the web address http://www.socaawards.com/NOMINEES.html and vote for Small Axe Band International to win this award and continue to push St. Kitts and Nevis’ flavor of soca to the front of the regional and international stage.
The Band, who was recently featured at United State Virgin Islands 60th Year Celebration of Carnival on St Thomas, will later this month perform at the 24th Annual Atlanta Carnival Bash, with other Caribbean soca heavy weights such as Claudette Peters, Edwin Yearwood, Tallpree, Iwer George, Skinny Fabulous and others.
The International Soca Music Awards was founded in 2003 by a Trinidad and Tobago native, entrepreneur Mr. Colin ‘CJ’ Jackman. The Soca Awards was created to bring recognition to the Soca and Calypso genre. The first Soca Awards ceremony was held in 2003 in Brooklyn, New York. The Awards ceremony was also held in St. Kitts and Nevis in 2008.
